Two MSE students, Gillian Brown, a 4th year student, and Jonathan Shaheen, a 3rd year student, both with a concentration in polymer and fiber materials, have received AATCC Foundation Charles E. Gavin III Family Scholarships.

Charles E. Gavin, III is an active member of AATCC since 1958 when he joined the student chapter at Auburn University. He served as a Councilor of the Southeastern Section, AATCC President, and treasurer of AATCC and AATCC Foundation. Gavin was instrumental in establishing AATCC Foundation Inc. It is the desire and hope of the Gavin Family that those students who are chosen to receive this scholarship will, someday, consider passing this opportunity on to another deserving student.

The Gavin Family Scholarship is eligible to rising freshmen, sophomores, juniors, or seniors who attend (or plan to attend) MSE at Georgia Tech with a focus in textile related programs. Other criteria include demonstrated leadership in school or community, financial need, SAT scores, academic expectancy to graduate, and work experience and history.
