Women in Materials Science and Engineering, (WiMSE) have partnered with St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Midtown, Atlanta, to help combat the growing housing crisis experienced by university students. The project has involved cleaning, furnishing, and painting living spaces, in order to make the shelter a safe and comfortable place to live. WiMSE has hosted multiple workdays that have students getting involved with refurbishing the space, and promoting community. These workdays will continue in the future, and anyone interested in getting involved should contact the WiMSE Instagram. The project also involves Georgia Tech's Student Government Association and Students’ Temporary Assistance and Resources Services on Georgia Tech's campus.
