PhD Student Wins MRS Gold Award

Atlanta (December 10, 2008) — Srikanth Singamaneni,PTFE Ph.D. student, won the MRS Gold Award. The Materials Research Society (MRS) Graduate Student Awards are intended to honor and encourage graduate students whose academic achievements and current materials research display a high level of excellence and distinction. MRS seeks to recognize students of exceptional ability who show promise for significant future achievement in materials research.

MRS Graduate Student Gold and Silver Awards were presented to the Finalists at the MRS Award Ceremony on Wednesday, December 3, in the Sheraton Boston Hotel, Grand Ballroom. The prizes were: $400 and a presentation plaque for the Gold Awards; $200 and a certificate for the Silver Awards.

His paper titled Pattern Transformation in Periodic, Porous, Elasto-plastic Microstructures won the award.

There were 4 gold awards given: MIT, Stanford, Harvard, and Georgia Tech.
