Dr. Meisha Shofner's research interests concern the processing and physical properties of polymer matrix composite materials with specific emphasis on nanocomposites. Her research group focuses on manipulating the excess interfacial area provided by nanoscale fillers to create composite materials with novel properties. Topics in her research areas include solid freeform fabrication of composite materials reinforced by anisotropic nanofillers, processing strategies for high performance nanocomposites, and synergistic nanofiller interactions.

Dr. Shofner is an Assistant Professor at Georgia Institute of Technology in the School of Materials Science & Engineering. Prior to joining the Georgia Tech faculty, she was a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering where she studied the reinforcement behavior of nanofilled thermoplastic polymers above the glass transition temperature.

Dr. Shofner is a member of the APS, TMS, and ASME.
