Title: Finite Element Mesh Partitioning Technique for Simulation of Twin-Screw Extrusion and Polymer Coextrusion
A new finite element algorithm for simulation of the flow in twin-screw extrusion and in multi-layer polymer coextrusion will be presented in this seminar. The main difficulty in simulation of twin-screw extrusion and multi-layer coextrusion is the transient nature of the flow domain. In the past, finite element mesh was modified or regenerated after each simulation step as the shape of the flow domain changed during a simulation. Modification or regeneration of a finite element mesh after each simulation step is cumbersome and time consuming. Furthermore, the quality of the finite element mesh, and hence, the accuracy of the numerical predictions, also deteriorates as the mesh is modified or regenerated.
